Last of Ironmen passes

James DeAngelis, the last survivor of Yale's Ironmen team of 1934 that upset Princeton has died. We'll have a story Friday, but William Wallace, who wrote a book about the Ironmen, knew him best. Here is link to his story:<>

McLeod ninth

Sorry I missed this last week, but Mike McLeod finished ninth in voting for the Payton Award, given to the FCS' top offensive player.

The three finalists for the award to be presented on Dec. 13th are:

Josh "I love playing Yale" Johnson, San Diego's dynamic quarterback.

Jayson Foster, Georgia Southern quarterback

Eric Sanders, Northern Iowa quarterback

Only saw Johnson play out of the three, but the kid is a special talent (113 TDs to 15 INTs in career)

--- Here's a link to some New England honors, including Siedlecki being named coach of the year.

--- Also, the Walter Camp All-America team was released today for the FCS and no Ivy League players were on the team.

--- And finally, a link to the Hula Bowl, where Brandt Hollander will play.

Interesting article

In case you missed this last week in the Wall Street Journal.

Possible recruit

Clovis West's Matt Jelmini, at about 5-8, 175, rushed 25 times for 122 yards and a score to close a 1,331-yard, 19-touchdown season interrupted by an ankle sprain. And that's 3,602 yards and 56 scores in two seasons for the probable valedictorian who might continue his football career in the Ivy League at Harvard or Yale.
