WR Kyle Marcinick (Dublin, Ohio)  appears to be headed to Yale for the 2015 season, pending acceptance.

The 5-11, 181-pound WR plays at Dublin Coffman. Check out his highlights.

WR Deon Randall, OL Ben Carbery, K/P Kyle Cazzetta and DB Cole Champion have been selected to the USA Network’s USA College Football FCS Preseason All-American Team.

Randall was chosen to the first team. Carbery was picked for the second team, while Cazzetta and Champion were selected to the third team.

Also, OL Will Chism has been chosen as a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Chism was nominated for his impressive resume of community service accomplishments: volunteering with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Assisting with the Mandi Schwartz Bone Marrow Drive and volunteering with the Elmseed Enterprise Fund.

Of the 182 nominees, 22 players will be chosen in September.

Lambie Lanman starred at QB at Los Altos High in Calif. He will be a walk-on at Yale this season. Here is a story on Lanman from the Los Altos Town Crier.

Also, some have asked about what the Yale players are doing now that they are on campus. There are around 80 players that have arrived at Yale early.
I spoke to one player and he said most are taking classes and have internships. He explained that the team is in the heart of its offseason strength and conditioning program. Everyone, he says, looks visibly bigger, stronger and faster. The team is holding meetings a few times per week to watch film with position groups and the skill guys are going through 7-on-7 drills.

Yale K/P Kyle Cazzetta has been selected to the College Football Performance Awards watch list.
Cazzetta was an All-Ivy League honorable mention pick last season. He was second in the league with 11 FGs and booted a career-long 46-yard FG three times last season. He also punted 54 times for a 38.7 average.

The Redmond-Reporter, Cam Sandquist's hometown newspaper, caught up with the former Yale WR.
Sandquist holds the Yale mark for the longest TD reception, catching a 98-yard score from Eric Williams as a junior.

Yale has named Carlton Hall its new defensive line coach, the school announced Thursday.

Hall replaces Dwayne Wilmot, who stepped down for personal reasons.

Hall comes over from Elon where he coached the defensive line. Hall is a former linebacker at Vanderbilt and signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers in 1998.

He has also served as an assistant at the University of West Alabama, the University of Houston, Georgetown, Columbia and worked with Yale head coach Tony Reno at Harvard from 2007-10.

Around 80 players are expected to report to campus on July 7 and begin workouts. Preseason camp begins Aug. 17, but players can’t take the field until Aug. 19.

WILMOT STEPS DOWN

Tony Reno said DL coach Dwayne Wilmot has stepped down for “personal reasons.”

Wilmot spent two seasons as DL coach. Reno said a replacement is expected to be named soon. According to the Times-News, the replacement is expected to be former Elon assistant Carlton Hall.

VARGA UPDATE

Yale Sr. RB Tyler Varga played in just six games last year because of a foot injury. He has made progress and saw a handful of foot specialists during the offseason.

So will the bruising RB be ready?

“I honestly don’t know,” Reno said. “I expect him to be here for preseason camp. Once he puts the pads on, we’ll see.”

2014 SCHEDULE
Take a look at this year’s upcoming schedule and notice it’s a bit odd.

Yale will play five of its first six at home and then three of its final four on the road. The schedule was put together during the Tom Williams era and was built around the Yale-Army on Sept. 27 at the Yale Bowl.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT?
Last year, freshmen like Dale Harris, Spencer Rymiszewski, Foye Oluokun and Robert Ries were thrown into the fire and saw the field quite a bit in the secondary.

Well expect at similar situation at WR this season.

Freshmen Ross Drwal (6-1, 200) and Mike Sirgusa (6-3, 203) bring good size to the position. Meanwhile, Chris Williams-Lopez and Jake Dehart have speed. Dehart has drawn comparisons to Deon Randall.

RECRUITING UPDATE
The Bulldogs have tabbed a pair of 2015 recruits, pending acceptance.

Tre Moore, a QB from St. Louis, Missouri, is one. He was drawing interest from schools like Syracuse and Notre Dame, according to 247sports.com. DE Ian Baker (North Canton, Ohio) is also headed to Yale.

SCRIMMAGE 

Yale will travel to face Brown in a scrimmage on Sept. 6.

Yale senior captain Deon Randall has been named to The Sports Network’s FCS Preseason All-America Team.

Randall, a wide receiver, was a third-team selection. He was a first-team All-Ivy League pick last season. Randall led the Bulldogs with 85 catches last season, one shy of the school record. He finished with 1,021 all-purpose yards and also played some cornerback for Yale.

Other Ivy League players selected were Harvard DE Zach Hodges (first team: defense), Harvard OL Nick Easton (first team: offense), Princeton CB Anthony Gaffney (second team: defense), Penn LB Daniel Davis (third team: defense) and Brown LS Courtland Clavette (third team: defense).

Yale (5-5 last year) will open its season with Lehigh on Sept. 20 at noon at the Yale Bowl.
