Yale commit Stephen Shoemaker was named as the winner of the Chris Mello Award and Scholarship by the Westchester, N.Y. chapter of the National Football Foundation as a banquet on Thursday.

Shoemaker, a two-way starting lineman for New York Class C champion Bronxville, was also named to the Golden Dozen scholar-athlete team.
