Yale's update roster is up

As promised I would make mention when Yale put an updated roster on its website. Well, that happened earlier today.

Going by the roster, there are two players returning for a fifth season of eligilbility. Linebacker Wes Moyer (which was previously mentioned in this blog) and defensive tackle Carter Deutsch, which could be a nice bonus since the Bulldogs were somewhat lacking in experienced interior linemen. UPDATED AT 11:30 A.M.: Deutsch is no longer listed on the roster so it looks like Moyer is the only player coming back for a fifth year.

The only players that were on the Yale roster heading into the 2011 season finale against Harvard with remaining eligibility who are not on the current roster are fullback Jordan Capellino and defensive end Andrew Sutphin.

Yale opens spring practice two weeks from today with the spring game set for Apr. 21.

You are wrong. Deutsch is not returning, nor is he on the updated roster as returning. Nice try, though.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jim.
Would you suggest to Coach Reno that at least one of the readers of Portal 31 would also welcome news from his staff about Yale football. There are many forms these bulletins could take. The previous administration was uncommunicative. Its Twitter account barely fogged a mirror.

He was on the roster I viewed last night and have no idea what "nice try" means.

Plenty to work with on this roster. Let's go, Bulldogs!

Agree with Steve. There are many good players on this roster. Yale should be expected to have a winning season and nothing less. If the coach is any good, he should be able to put together a good season for the players and for the fans.

If we can get decent quarterback play from John Whitelaw or whomever... I expect good things. Coach Reno sure seems like the real deal.

Winning in Cambridge will be tough... but will be an unbelievable ecstasy if it happens.

Jim - unrelated to the roster but the Yale website is showing the Georgetown opener as an away game now. G-town still shows the game as being in New Haven.

Website slip-up, or change in venue -- any idea?

I e-mailed the Yale SID who checked with Tom Beckett and confirmed that the game is at Georgetown.
