FOUR-DOWN FRIDAY: Yale at Colgate

Four-down Friday is back. Here are four things to look for when Yale opens its season on Saturday at Colgate at 1 p.m.

New-look offense: The Bulldogs have several players that have been waiting patiently for their turn. Well, that time is now. Can players like RB Candler Rich, and WRs Mike Siragusa and Myles Gaines step in and keep Yale's offense as one of the premier high-powered attacks in the FCS?

Hines hype: There may not be a more intriguing player come Saturday than WR Bo Hines. This is a player that thrived in the ACC as a true freshman last season and led North Carolina State in receiving. Yale will need his explosiveness and big-play capability.

Weather factor: Temperatures are expected to be in the 80s in Hamilton, New York, on Saturday. Keep an eye on how the combination of Yale's high-paced play and the heat affect Colgate, especially late in the game. That's something that played a key role in Yale's victory over Army last season.

Season openers: Sure, Colgate has a pair of games under its belt against two strong programs in Navy and New Hampshire, and that may be an advantage for the Red Raiders. But despite the late start, Yale has won its last eight season openers and is 121-18-2 overall in them. The Bulldogs haven't lost an opener since 2006 against San Diego.

Let's hope Colgate's two opponents "tenderized" them just as Stanford bet up Army before last years epic win. Go Eli !

Three areas that concern me about game sat 1The play of the off. line will they be ready to play did not look good in brown scrimmage. 2play of running backs cannot have injuries here not much depth. 3 Def backs will the new defensive schemes stop the long ball? or will the backs continue to let this happen . PLEASE LOOK BACK WHEN THE BALL IS IN THE AIR.
