Varga wins Bushnell Cup and more news

Tyler Varga was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year honors on Monday at the Bushnell Cup presentation.

Here's my story from Monday's event.

Video below of Varga after accepting the award.

And here's a pretty cool photo of former Yale RB Mike McLeod, Varga and former QB Matt Polhemus.

I'm wondering whether Bryan Holmes is the odds-on favorite to fill Kyle Cazzetta's tall shoes as the PK in 2015, or whether he'll face real competition from Jason Alessi or another PK, perhaps an incoming freshman.

Also... is Cazzetta's FG percentage of .778 (14/18) a Yale record? Back in the '80s it was Bill Moore's .700 (7/10 in '82), but what is it now? Mike Muraczyk (late '90s I believe) was a very good kicker, did he set the mark, and is it now Cazzetta's?

Charlie O'Hearn's 52 yd. FG against Carneige Tech was in 1922.

Okay, what's happening? Everyone else is crowing about their yields. The silence from Ray Tomkins seems ominous. Comfort us.

Some great prospects (two/three star ranked athletes) who haven't necessarily committed yet, but are very interested. Let's wait until after Early Action results come.

However, it would be interesting to hear who has been visiting last weekend, and who Yale is seriously interested in.
