Yale JV falls to Milford Academy

The Bulldogs junior varsity team fell 33-14 Sunday to Milford Academy at Clint Frank Field.

Yale scored on its first possession of the second half. Freshman QB Rafe Chapple connected with junior Matt Rubino for a 35-yard gain. That set up a 27-yard touchdown run by freshman RB John Barton. Barton also had a 67-yard run in the game.

Chapple later threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to freshman TE Noah Yates. Also on that scoring drive, Chapple hit Yates for a 37-yard pass and sophomore RB Galen McAllister had a 13-yard run.

Yale trailed 16-0 in the first half to a team that has seven players ranked in the top 25 at their positions by Rivals.com.

The Yale JV game will play again on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. vs. Brown at Clint Frank Field.

There are no Yale stats, but here are some Milford Academy stats from Sunday's game...

Buffalo's Jake Dolegala threw for 226 yards and 4 TDs
Zee Roberson had 4 catches for 124 yards and 3 TDs
Jamar Kelly had 3 catches and 1 TD

Sidney Gopre had 5 tackles and 1 interception
Mike Gaynor had 5 tackles
Binghamton's Joe Crowley had 4 tackles

Oliver Graybar had 2 field goals and 3 extra point kicks

The varsity also struggled against a JV team in Colgate. Can they rise up against a varsity Penn team this week.

8:08 - Although you will be called a "hater" I actually appreciate the humor; everyone needs to lighten up on this blog. But the fact is Colgate is better than Penn. So the Penn game, especially at home, HAS TO to go in the W column. It is big Ivy wins that matter, not non-Ivies like Army, Colgate, and Lehigh - though those are nice.

8:27 how do you know 8:08 was trying to be humorous.

He (she) may actually be a hater.

    How's that for "lightening up"

My only worry moving forward is can varga continue to take the pounding every week from his heavy workload. It would be a shame if he wasnt able to play in the Harvard game at 100%.

Varga's workload has really not been that heavy. He is averaging about 20 carries per game.

Not really very much for a premier back. Plus, he is in great shape.

Any running back can be injured, it comes with the territory, but Varga is certainly not being used too much.

Maybe too little when I think about that last driver against Dartmouth

8:27AM, 8:08AM does not deserve the distinction of just a “hater”; this person has absolutely no idea what they are talking about here, which of course is discouraging. I also disagree that this person’s statement was humorous. Although stupidity is funny sometimes this actually outlines the problem of this blog, a problem that I have said over and over again. NO ONE minds if people come on here and talk negatively about things, this starts healthy debate. However the negativity needs to have some validity and brought forth by people who are educated on what they are saying. Not just morons who can log on to a computer and post things. This makes me appreciate Truth Teller’s posts more and more as they come.

Let me attempt the impossible, to partially educate you here 8:08AM. This so called “JV team” in Colgate that you speak of scored 31 points 2 weeks in a row. This past week it was not enough to beat the Bulldog’s. 2 weeks ago this 31 points was enough for this so called “JV team” to beat Princeton. I can’t expect you to know that Princeton was picked to win the Ivy League this year. So if they are so bad and such a “JV team” how were they able to manage beating Princeton?

This by no means says that we will do the same, but it does say that Colgate is a formidable team, it was a good win for us, and again we are moving in the right direction. Beating Penn or anyone else in your conference is always a good win. Let’s hope the Bulldogs stay the course and continue to play hard inspired football in route to another win. This has truly been an enjoyable season so far. 8:08AM, it’s time for you to get away from the computer. I’m sure it is “snack” or “nap” time wherever you are. Pull out your mat and take a break. Go Bulldogs…

  8. What was disappointing about the JV game is that the quality of the JV usually reflects the depth of the varsity where they need it. Milford is arguably a minor league farm for the NFL, but still it doesn't appear Yale has much depth at defense, where they need it most.

TNC, 8:08 was trying to provoke just the kind of long-winded and overly serious post you wrote in response to him. We all know Colgate is a good team. Why bother? Why take the bait?

How could Yale possibly have a good JV team? All the freshmen and sophomores play varsity!

The Penn game is very big indeed, since the next opponent, Columbia, is frankly yet again a poor team. Beat Penn and we're 6-1, 3-1 going into Brown-Princeton-Harvard.

Reno can pitch youth all he wants but when Varga and Randall leave, they will be bad on offense. Ben Carberry is the best OL they have, Friedline is a classic Ivy bust same with Cannon.

4:45 Because Randel and Varga leave.Yale will be a bad team.?
Well I for one will disagree with you.Silly rabbit.
Cannon and friedman are a bust,
Now that is a very STUPID statement.they are very consistent in their blocking schemes.Yale will have a very good if not great Oline next year.
#62 Ross is only going to get better.Bezeny will be one of the best Yale will ever have.
So your sour grapes are unfounded and ludicris

Unbelievable that it keeps coming. If they can't say we are bad this year, they already say we will be next. So sad, really. Someone this invested in anger -it is eating them up. Sad is the word.

Maybe he/she is a Harvard fan.... They can be on our blog. Many people are deceptive about their online identies. Why are we paying so much attention to them?

3:57PM, long-winded and over serious, I beg to differ. However I do as always appreciate ones opinion. Honestly, I enjoy responding to those posts. They incite thought provoking and yes lengthy informative answers. Furthermore I have always loved educating the ignorant. Having only been on this blog for 6 months it seems as though there are many anonymous posters who need to be clued in on the facts, which I am enjoying doing. Especially in the wake of this great season so far. So it continues…
