In 1954 my grandfather and I (then age 9) watched the Cadets march into The Bowl, lonesome end Carpenter included, and leave 48-7 victors. Army ended the season ranked #7. In 1955 Army returned, but Pyle, Loucks and company prevailed 14-12. In '56 the Ivy League was formed and Yale won the 1st football championship and ended the season ranked #17 in the coaches poll.
Recent decades have not been kind to Army football. Ivy football followed the 1956 course.
Yale can defeat Army if the defense forces the Knights to throw at least 10 passes and forces 2 turnovers AND the offense puts together 3-4 nine play drives without turning over the ball. Will they?
That is why they play the game.

Mike Pyle was in high school at the time of the '55 Army game, but never mind, we're all getting on.
