News and notes from Thursday
Some notes and highlights from Thursday’s practice…
Collectively, the team really does look bigger, stronger and just better. Is this the year they turn the corner? We’ll see.
“This is the best camp here since I’ve been part of team,” said RB Tyler Varga, now a senior. “Faster than ever. More mature. Guys are really starting to come together. With everyone having one more year of experience, we’re just going to be more dangerous.”
Coming back from a foot injury, Varga seemed fine on Thursday. Look for a feature on him soon.
Moving over from right guard, Luke Longinotti seems to have a firm hold on the center position.
“Right now,” Reno said, “He’s solidified that position.”
Captain Deon Randall pointed out WR Myles Gaines, DB Foye Oluokun and LB Darius Manora are some of the players that have really improved coming into camp. He also said WR Mike Siragusa (6-3, 205) has come in as a freshman and has really been a presence on the outside.
RB Khalil Keys is another name that comes up among his teammates.
“He looks more confident and fluid,” Varga said.
And pretty much anyone at Yale camp has been impressed with the progression of Morgan Roberts, who, along with many of his teammates, are sporting a new-look mustache for camp. Randall says Roberts has a better understanding of the offense and looks comfortable.
“It’s the best I’ve ever seen him throw the ball,” Varga said. “He’s hitting everyone on their breaks. His timing is looking great with his receivers.”
Toward the end of practice, Roberts completed five straight passes on a drive, including three to WR Grant Wallace who made a great diving catch down the right sideline. Roberts said he loves Wallace and it has showed.
Again, Varga seemed fine bursting through holes and popping up quickly after getting hit.
Freshman QB Rafe Chapple also made some strong throws early on.
Freshman LB Matt Oplinger and DE Karl Marback looked good on the defensive side.
And for what it’s worth, DB Roger Kilgore and Michael West came up with INTs during Thursday’s practice.

Good upbeat article that addresses indirectly some of the legitimate concerns raised in earlier blog exchanges. How long before the Blog Troll deconstructs these upbeat observations and tell us why Tony Reno, spawn of Hitler, has doomed the Bulldogs to a 1 and 9 season?
Thank you Chris - some comments from important points of view. Moustaches?
7:38 well said.
Whats the starting O Line look like with Longonetti playing center.
Sounds great.
3 more weeks!!!!!!!!!!
Hey 12:10 as I wrote earlier. That the O line looked great, and about 20Lbs heavier per man.
Cannon Carberry ,Longinetti Chism and Freidline. They look like they can do some damage.
I will be going to practice today.
Cheers Jon Harris
wheres Friedline play?
7:48 AM - An upbeat article from Hunn is not anything new. He hasn't done an objective report since he took over. If there is a negative, he will not print it. If there is a tough question, he will not ask it. He does not act as a journalist or sports reporter. He functions as an extension of the Yale FB fan club as of he has to worry about being locked out from covering a team that is not even relevant.
Whether they become relevant is yet to be determined.
BTW: His job is not to write "upbeat" articles or be used as a mouthpiece for the Yale FB program. His job is to be objective which he is not.
TruthTeller
Why ? Hunn is objective he reports what he sees,If Roberts is'nt doing his job ,what does it benefit to write that he is.
None, so with that said. How you been Truth not so much teller.?
I still see your spreading your hatered towards Yale.Thank you for you lame contribution,Tell your mommy. Jon Harris says hello
Roberts need to prove it in games. Who cares about practice. He was a total liability on the field a year ago.
Same old garbage,You have no ceditibilty. Go haunt a house.
It seems like you're the only one that does'nt care.
Go to bed the grownups are

How many games is Yale winning this year Jon?
As many as they can.More or less.
cheers Jon
9:34 I should give you a proper answer. I would like to see the Brown scrimmage first.
Honestly if they stay healthy and they get a few breaks,It would not surprise me to see Yale
win 6 to7 games.
Reason talent on this team including the freshman.Team speed,
athleticism.bigger and stronger than last year.
Cheers Jon Harris
Pick a number between 1-10.

Any chance of the two of you moving your fascinating colloquy to Portal 32?
Chris; Is Bresny beating out Cannon at tackle and who is starting at tight end and linebacker.
Jon your a total lap dog. You cant even commit to a win total for the year. You sound like Reno with the pre drawn excuses. here is what you need to know about Reno 7-13. end of story.
Yup ,watch out for this lap dog it has teeth. I finally figured you out,Your mad because your a female.Yes I know you made a advance to Reno and he spurned your offer. You get so mad that you get on this blog to get back at everyone. That reminds you of the shame.I can't call you T T anymore so I will call you Tammy Tella. I just want to let you know Tammy Tella, it's not your fault.

TruthTeller
No,to late Madame. You are now Tammy Tella ,the girl who wants to be a fella. Good night Precious
Mr. Jon Harris
Bob W Thank you,Thank you very Much.....
Anyone notice that Monmouth hung up 52 ppints this past weekend. Amazing what a good OC can do when allowed to run his own offensw. Delaware State isn't exactly a juggernaut, but they're better than, at least, three of Yale's opponents. We'll see.
I'm sure Conlin and Reno met about it behind closed doors. If the season goes bad its all on Conlin, he begged for Morris to leave in closed door meetings.
Chris and Jon; Who are the starting offense and defense for the Brown scrimmage?
