Yale spring wrap-up
Yale finished up its spring session on Saturday with its annual Blue-White scrimmage. The offense won 123-56, based on the scoring system (shown in previous post).
Both Morgan Roberts Logan Scott threw really well. With Tyler Varga, Candler Rich and Galen McAllister all out, and Kahlil Keys taking a bit hit early and missing the remainder of the game, Everett Johnson took most of the carries on Saturday.
“He was a workhorse for us,” Tony Reno said. “He did a nice job.”
Matt Rubino caught two TDs and Grant Wallace finished with seven catches for 152 yards and a touchdown. Wallace shown flashes of his potential as a freshman, but with Chris Smith and Deon Randall in front of him last season, his opportunities were limited. Expect Wallace to really emerge next season. Wallace and Roberts seem to have a real connection. On one drive, Wallace had three catches for 57 yards. Moments later, Scott connected with Wallace for a deep pass.
“I think he’s an unbelievable player,” Roberts said. “I keep on saying this, he’s going to be one of the best receivers in the Ivy League.”
Deon Randall didn’t play much, mostly on punt returns and was on the field for a few plays.
Nick LeTesta also looked solid at WR after moving over from DB. He caught a few passes, including a 62-yard bomb from Scott in the second half.
On the defensive side, Roger Kilgore intercepted a Scott pass and returned it 30 yards for a TD (though most players stopped on the play because of an inadvertent whistle). Cole Champion, Copache Tyler, Jack Rushin, Mary Moesta and Spencer Rymiszewski were some players that stood out.
Champion also mentioned Andrew Larkin, Rushin and Mikhail Reece as players who made real strides during the spring.
Also, there should be some healthy competition at safety with Champion, Foye Oluokun and Robbie Ries battling.
I thought it went well,” Reno said. “We had a lot of guys get chances to get plays in and we’ve continued to see growth in our offense and defense individuals as well as schemes. Overall, we had a good spring and grew as a team.”
Also, a handful of potential recruits were on hand for Yale’s Junior Day. Two in-state kids were Dario Highsmith from Middletown and Sharrieff Grice from Kingswood-Oxford.
A look at the spring team awards below…

I'd love to hear from someone that was there and give us an objective report.
ReplyDeleteThis years Blue-White game was like a breath of fresh air after the 2013 yawner. Last year's Blue- White was: run, run, 2 yard pass, punt...over and over again. This year's game featured a ton of downfield passes..20, 30 yards, or more. It appears that the new offensive coordinator wants to open things up. Thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteThe scoring system they used was kind of bizarre, but the main thing was -
it was fun to watch!
I watched the Blue-White scrimmage fairly closely….here’s what I saw…
ReplyDeleteThe defense looked solid as the offense looked as though they are still somewhat working the kinks out.
The defensive front 4 looked as though they may be able to do some damage this season. Egu looks like a monster and was held by the whistle and “no hitting our QB” rule. But he looks as though he may give some offenses fits. LB’s played solid. The defensive backfield had a fair day as some of them got beat over the top a few times. Not sure if that was over aggressive play or scheme mistakes. Any receiving corps with legit speed though look as though they may give them problems. Going to need that rush to step up.
Offensively the O-Line looked fair also. They are still coming into form with some new starters and under classmen. They got moving in the 3rd and 4th quarter with a few pretty good drives. It was tough for them to make any yards early on though. They did play most of the game with the back-ups Keyes and Johnson in though; who both did a pretty good job. With Tyler Varga, Candler Rich and Galen McAllister all returning there should be a threat of running the ball though. Passing game looked to be solid as well. Morgan Roberts did a pretty nice job of taking what was given to him and not trying to do too much. Some of the balls he threw were ugly but got to the destinations. Hopefully he will clean things up. Wallace did respectably also. Rubino had a very nice day catching the ball and it looks as though he should have an impact along with Wallace.
Summer camp should be quite interesting as freshman Bezney, Siragusa, Drwal, Marback, Chism, Baramore, and Crowle come in and try to make an immediate impact. Curious to see how much they are used and who else can break in.
Let's be realistic. Qb and rb positions are still a question mark. We do not have a qb in the stable that fits this offensive scheme. Why we cannot adjust the system to the personnel available is a mystery. New make-up, same girlfriend! Varga better be good to go or it's going to be a very long season.
ReplyDeleteI think we're a potential contender for the first time since '07-'08 (the 2010 tease was just that). If we don't beat Harvard this year, maybe I'll just stop following the sport of football. I'm starting to feel like a Cubs fan (I know, we won in 2006 but...).
ReplyDeleteAdjusting the scheme is a lot tougher than one might think, especially with a new OC. Roberts looked like he was adequately managing the game from the QB position. However for that type of offense to operate at its best potential you need the QB to be equally as dangerous a running threat as the RB’s to keep defenses honest and disciplined. The throws the QB is asked to make are not game breakers either. They are short and most high percentage passes that again compliment the offensive style and play calling, and what the defense presents given the flow of offense is consistent.
ReplyDeleteNone of the QB’s looked as though they pose major rushing threats. The incoming freshmen seem like they may be able to pose a threat in that area. Stephen Barmore is a good sized kid with a nice looking arm. However I don’t know if he runs well enough to be the threat we need there. There are a few more kids who look to run well, especially Andrew Johnson & Jamal Locke (who’s listed as a CB on the incoming list, but it’s said he’s going to given a try at QB). Neither of them are that big (which honestly is a bit over rated these days of the kid can make play), and both will be new to the offense. This of course presents the situation of having a learning curve if any of them take the job. Again, it boils down to the OL & running game being solid enough to allow for the QB position to hash out. That is a must on any team for some success though.
I too attended the Blue-White scrimmage and here's how I see the QB situation. Roberts has the greater potential, but a lot of his throws Saturday were unacceptably erratic. Scott is a middling talent and somewhat more reliable. Neither one will frighten defenses with their running.
ReplyDeleteThe formula for success in the Ivy League is and always has been a QB who is elusive, can run, and is able to complete 10-15 yard passes with great consistency. We can not live on bubble screens OR 30 yard heaves, tempting as they may be.
That makes sense. Go with whoever has the combination of being able to run the best and can make those high percentage throws and keep a defense honest, regardless of class or experience. There should be a nice competition once summer camp starts.
ReplyDeleteHaving attended the scrimmage I agree with 12:08 Roberts has more potential but after a year and half where is it? This is not rocket science he either learns to accurately throw a spiral to the reciever or he finds a new position. Scott is a reliable backup not a starter. The Qb position is the most important position yet our weakest. I do not see us doing better than the middle of pack untill this posion changes.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone explain this? This is Reno quoted in Chris's game story: “We’re still so young. On paper, when the two-deep comes out I bet we’re younger than last year. That’s the scary part. We’re going to have a lot of sophomores backed up by freshmen. And on offense, a good amount of freshmen." Here's what the offense looks like to me: The line is seemingly set, with three returning starters, Cannon and Friedline. At skills positions there is Varga, Rich, Keys, Randle, Wallace, Little, Rubino, etc. Where exactly are these freshman going to play? Is he saying the starting QB will be a freshman? The starting TE? Is he saying none of the kids I mentioned have locked up any time? Anyone have thoughts on this? I really am confused. They were "so young" last year, and it WAS the "scary part." Why would we still be so dependent on freshmen? Or is he still playing the game of "I promised these guys playing time when I recruited them so I better be quoted saying they all have spots" Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time seeing Roberts potential that you all are seeing. All I saw was pretty much more of the same....
ReplyDelete11/25 44% Completions, 154 yrds
On the other hand, Scott has been solid/consistent to impressive whenever they call his number, usually in some crazy chaotic circumstance. Good things happen with the ball in his hands, this does not happen by accident.
13/21 62% Completions, 206 yrds, I believe this was also accomplished working with the #2's
Scott has also showed some nice ability to get yards with his feet against Princeton and Brown last year. Getting 10yrd+ chunks at a time for critical first downs. His high school senior year stats on MaxPreps showed that he rushed for 900+ yrds against some of the top teams in California.
Anyway, I guess I like pulling for the underdog, I hope Scott continues to improve, and it seems like this year he might be given his fair shot to earn the spot.
To 3:56 only coach Reno knows the answer to your questions but if I were to guess it could be all of the positions on offense and defense as to backups. Do not see any freshmen starting with the exception of Qb,Tackle and TE.
ReplyDeleteMy best guess is OT Bezney will compete and when ready play some, other OL will be strictly 2s, WR's will have a chance to play right away as it's an easier transition while QB's will compete for backup spot and depending upon skill have a package. Same on D, LB's will be in 2deep along with DBs and both in 2deep on STs.
ReplyDeleteScott is too small. One good hit and done. Roberts is erratic. Didn't see alot of the back ups. Defense looked a bit winded. Much better than last years game. It's hard to pick a Qb when they are playing against their own team with no fear of being hit. I disagree with some of the comments about a Qb and size. These shorter and smaller kids may be able to "run" but they don't see the field over their own line. A Qb has to be a decision maker. He needs to make a good read and execute. That takes height and size. 6 feet plus at least. 6 ft 4 is ideal but I'm dreaming I know. Give someone some time in the pocket. These are bright kids. I'd love to see them pick a defense apart!
ReplyDeleteNo running QB in a spread offense translates to 1. short run game 2. short pass game 3. high probability of injury at the RB and QB position. Anybody think anything but this has happened the past two seasons? This year will be more of the same unless we adopt a new scheme. If the current crop of QBs are not runners why are we still running this offense? Am I missing something? Coaches, care to chime in?
ReplyDeleteActually that is a great idea! We hear from all the amateurs out there. I would be fascinating to hear from the pros, particularly now that the coaches' workload has eased a bit.
ReplyDelete8:51 PM…
ReplyDeleteAsk Johnny Manziel or Russell Wilson how much size matter. Obviously this is not the SEC or the NFL, it’s the Ivy’s; but regardless of the level if a kid can make plays he can make plays! I’ll take a small kid that can make plays any day over anyone’s 6’4’ that can’t. I agree that the kids are bright, some of the brightest. But that can and will affect making the best read, not making the best throw. This offense doesn’t have a complicated route tree and read progression. It just needs someone to MAKE PLAYS with their arm and legs. This doesn’t require a specific height, age, or experience. It requires choosing the correct player and that player making plays…
11:24PM…
I understand you. From the looks of the incoming freshman it seems like they could end up being formidable running threats. So there may be something in the works. I guess we’ll just have to wait…with patience…and see…
8:51 ... That is exactly the problem. Everyone looks at the one or two aberrations and thinks that is how things work. Any coach that has his 10 mil QB running around is putting the company investments at serious peril! May as well invest in Vegas. In college, the players are treated as more expendable so this is why you see all the running around at the QB position. If you only have him for four years, maybe two actually on the field, who cares if he can walk when he is done! I don't care if it is in the business world or on the football field, I will question your competence if you fail to devise a plan that best utilizes the abilities of your workers/players or replaces those workers/players with ones that fit the skill set required by your desired plan.
ReplyDelete8:51…I agree that players make plays, yet it is nicer to have them bigger than smaller, especially in football.
ReplyDelete10:43…You are obviously one of the amateurs that Richard Patrick 57 is speaking of. This is football, and since the beginning of time players have and always do make plays, as 8:51 mentioned. Regardless of their size, production is the name of the game; in the business world or on the football field. Which is all the more reason, if you have players for only the two years that you speak of; to get your best players on the field as soon as possible and let them make plays. So far that seems to be what Reno has tried to do. So let’s leave him to do that, and you to continue your bad critiques.
I went to both past spring games and offense and difference are both marginally better this spring. The offense is designed to open the field and spread the defense to allow our playmakers space to make plays. The problem is the execution at Qb our current crop are just below the standard of Qb at every other ivy league scool who runs the same offense. Untill we get some Quality Qb's who can run and pass the offense will look as it has i the past as sluggish and ineffective against the better teams. Rome was not built in a day this team is moving forward but not at the pace we would like. There are a handful of incoming freshmen who will have a chance to make both the offense and defense better than what we saw at the spring game.
ReplyDelete"Every other Ivy school"? Maybe you missed the Cornell and Brown games where each school had one of the best quarterbacks in the Ivies.
ReplyDeleteI like the participation on this blog and agree the best players regardless of age and size should play. I disagree either Roberts or Scott is the answer. Lets face it our QB group was by far the second worst in the ivy league last year. There are four potential freshmen QB who if they learn the system are all better runners whether they can pass may be another story. If they can Roberts and Scott will not play.
ReplyDeleteOh, woe! What will we argue about between now and August when the music resumes?
ReplyDeleteWell we have 178 days to see what will transpire. I have a feeling Yale, will be better than they have showed in a long while.
ReplyDeleteI believe the Staff and players will just be a more mature group, bigger ,stronger, smarter
Have a great summer,I'll be back in August. Cheers Jon Harris
Chris:
ReplyDeleteWould you, could you find out the meaning of various spring team awards. Does big mean interior linemen?
Does Skill mean skill positions? Does Combo mean neither Big nor Skill? What were the bases for S & C awards? Improvement? Effort? Definition?
Coach Reno thinks there are four to five freshmen who could start on offense and defense. I wonder how many more will be the two deep.
ReplyDeleteAs we've seen during Reno's tenure, we are depending on freshmen for success. It started with Eric Williams (we saw how that turned out) and it will end with who knows who. I have heard rumblings that for the last 2 years, freshmen have come in and been handed positions without actually having to earn them because they were a Reno recruit. This has not been true in all cases, but in many. Harvard, Princeton, Brown and Penn have all won recent Ivy league championships and it wasn't with freshmen and sophomores. Perhaps Reno's strategy is to compete 2 or 3 years from now when the entire roster consists of his guys. I have have followed, and supported, Yale football for many years and I do not like what I am seeing from this coach.
ReplyDeleteI'm too far away to see practice often but this harping on youth of team and coach seems unwarranted. Most of Off starters Sr or Jr last year. Will probably be younger this year but not loaded with yngsters. Def much younger but they should be more tilted to upper classman ...just do not see wholesale give away to Reno recruits
ReplyDeleteI'm looking into getting some clarification of the spring awards.
ReplyDeleteWhen they won the championship in 2006 half the starters were soph's
ReplyDeleteGuys it is what it is,what a gonna do.? I am seeing a grade of athlete, that I have not seen since late 60's t'late 70's.
ReplyDeleteIn other words progress is moving forward.Positive things,I read on this blog and the Ivy sports blog. That quote Yale will be 0-3 to start the SEASON.
Well you guys were WRONG.So be patient, relax let RENO do what Reno does. Because you and I are fans. You and I have nothing to do with what these guys are doing.
So in the manner of good sportsman.let's keep our pie holes shut.See what happens before we condemn a person or team that need not be.
Sincerely Jon Harris
I agree with Jon Harris and would appreciate an honest assessment from him regarding this year's team versus last.
ReplyDeleteLehigh and Army will be heavy favorites in the first two games.
ReplyDeleteColgate, Cal Poly and Cornell were last year Too...
ReplyDeleteI don't see why Army should be a "heavy favorite". They've been pretty pathetic in recent years.
ReplyDeleteI think they will both be favorites. Especially early in the season. Even though West Point has struggled the last few years. Beating either or both of those teams would be huge wins to start the season. Especially since Lehigh went 8-3 last year and this will be their third game our first. It will be Army’s 4th game and our second. For Yale to beat these teams we will need to click early and have a strong defensive effort. Having those two wins going into our first Ivy League action would be a great boost in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteEscaping without key injuries would be a great win!
ReplyDeleteThat’s the truth for any game!!! But maybe with the last 2 crops of incoming freshman we may also, along with playing guys early, establish some formidable depth.
ReplyDeleteTo 12:52 how can I compare last year to this year.1/3 of the team is not avaiable to access.
ReplyDeleteI can tell 3 weeks into summer training camp.Sorry thats the best I can tell you.
Ray Walt and Chris whats up
Jon Harris
Games where your opponents significantly physically out match you pose great risk for injuries. The Ivy teams lack the physical size, strength and speed to be competitive with D1A. Playing such teams does not make one better. It just makes you better at taking a physical beating. I would sooner give the team a week off to catch up on schoolwork and sleep. That would probably do them more good and have a greater impact on their Ivy schedule than taking a beating!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know where Charles Cook #22 LB was during the spring game? Is he injured?
ReplyDeletePlays baseball, getting ready for the ivy tournament..
ReplyDeleteJon Harris
guys just a throught. After this season and the sr class leaves next year we will have 28 jr 28so and31fr thats young..
ReplyDeleteAlas in turn Jr So and Fr will be Sr,Jr and So after the season. Also the attrition rate is down.Which in turn builds depth.
ReplyDeleteThis is a positive situation.Reno's Program is on the upswing. I don't care what the haters are saying.
Cheers Jon Harris
I agree. He had a good recruiting class last season, and he seems to like this upcoming class even more. You need to give a coach time to not only have the current players adjust to him as a head coach, but time to recruit to bring in the type of players he has in mind to carry out this vision. Reno does have things on the upswing. 2-8 his first year, 5-5 this past year. No reason to not believe that we will again improve this year. I’m with Jon Harris…on the upswing.
ReplyDeleteNo QB, a question mark at RB and one big hit on Deon away from a 1-9 season. Hope those freshmen are SUPER FRESH!
ReplyDeleteTo 1:03
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you wish the worst will happen...
I agree with you 11:06. It looks like 1:03 wants a bad year. Have to stick with the positive. Injuries happen they are part of the game; let’s just hope that we stay healthy this year. All things and signs have been pointing in the right direction for a good season. Those of us who are TRUE supporters are going to stick with that stance.
ReplyDeleteJon Harris, thank you for the update on Cook. Glad he's not hurt. A ivy championship in baseball would be a good reason not to be at the spring game. Look forward to seeing him dominate next fall.
ReplyDelete1:03 ... No amount of optimism trumps reality. We can keep on being dummies or we can make a change. May still end up dummies but at lest we can't be blamed for doing the same dumb things.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody have a clue regarding the projecred starting offense and defense?
ReplyDeleteCharles Cook is not much of a factor on baseball team since he has played in less than one third of the games and has a batting average of .125. He had more tackles this past season than hits.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the stats on Cook,Did'nt your Mother ever tell you if you nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.?
ReplyDeleteI really wonder about the people on this board.
Use that mental filter it's a good thing to practice.
Reno took the bait and got roped into Roberts because he conned himself onto clemson's roster by knocking over tomato cans in high school. Reno used a bug favor from admissions to get that done. May 1st tomorrow when does Reno set up his excuse for the season. Can we be young again?
ReplyDeleteHow big of a stooge is the tight ends coach they hired last year. I find it amazing two quality kids like Leunan and Coty are not coming back.
ReplyDeleteMr. Stooge,
ReplyDeleteDid you ever observe them during practice sessions? If you did, then you would understand while they saw minimal playing time.
Well said Ray Yale….
ReplyDeleteMr. Stooge, could also be these highly intelligent kids reading the writing on the wall? Last year between the two of them they had less than 12 catches and 3 TD’s. Could it be that since there are 2 TE’s both 6-6 coming in the freshman class who can block well and catch and they don’t want to have to deal with that competition? Don’t be so fast to blame it all on Hatch….give things a shot.
It may take a couple more recruiting classes before Mr. Stooge, Truth (?) Teller, and their merry band retreat to their caves or their mother's basements. Speaking of recruiting, look where Steve Gladstone has gotten the crew with his first two classes.
ReplyDeleteI love the die hard optimism of the old timers on this blog. You don't see that from the younger generation. Not realistic but good to see!
ReplyDeleteGive this year's TEs a chance. Along the incoming frosh, they are the this year's players of record. They will improve and I hope prove themselves. Let's at least judge them after a year of work
ReplyDeleteI agree Leunan and Coty are great kids but performance at tight eight well below average and agree they would not be playing much this year. Buric would have started every game this past year if he was healthy. It will be interesting to see if the move of Gerson to tight end pans out.
ReplyDeleteI rather be older and have understanding with wisdom. Than younger an sophmoric, biased may I add cowardly..
ReplyDeleteMy name is Jon Harris
I have been reading this board and am confused regarding whether Egu and Moesta are DE's or LB's. Has Vaughn been replaced as starting LB
ReplyDeleteEgu and Moesta were the first string DEs in the Blue-White game.
ReplyDeleteTE's coach is a real tough guy running off kids at a non scholarship Ivy league program. real class act
ReplyDelete4:03 what are you talkin about,Hatch is running kids off.
ReplyDeleteDid they tell you that ,whom is your source.4:03
Hey Truth liar how you doing.I have'nt heard from you in a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks 3:17; Who were the starting NG,DT and LB's.
ReplyDeleteWho are we running kids off for and why is the real question. Reno's ego will do him in here.
ReplyDeleteLuenen looks the part but couldn't block on the line of scrimmage or make a cut, Coty was a good blocker but sloooow. It is what it is. Time to move on!
ReplyDelete8:39 What are you talking about?. Did Reno do something to you.? I have met and seen the man at games, at my job in the store he is always approachable. He has never been nothing but gracious.
ReplyDeleteSo Tell us what your problem is.
Jon Harris
Did they free up two "scholarships" with the two cuts?
ReplyDeleteI just looked at the blog... I would like to address the VERY uninformed 5:11 above. In regards to Charles Cook
ReplyDeleteHe has only had 8 at bats with a batting average of 125. If you know anything about baseball that's a good average. as opposed to some current stats of 62 AB'S 194 AV
44 AB'S 159 AV 35 AB'S 143 AV
17AB'S 118 AV those are not good. I would like to have seen what Cook might have done with more opportunity. Do some research and most of all Think before you comment.
Chas Cook, and the rest of the Yale baseball team. Good luck against Dartmouth and bring back a victory.!!!!!! YALE Go BLUE
ReplyDeleteCheers Jon Harris
happened to see the football ops guy for yale at a bar last night. Very interesting how Reno operates and what he is "quote" selling to recruits. Alot of empty promises.
ReplyDeleteYou should be ashamed 9:23, but obviously you are not. Who is Yale's football ops guy? Did he actually talk to you? I bet not. And what about those "empty" promises? Do you care to elaborate? You can always continue to make stuff up. What has made you what you are?
ReplyDeleteSorry 10:33 your baseball acumen obviously could fit on the head of a pin. One hit in eight AB is not a good hitter. The fact Cook has played in 12 games and has 8 AB means he was inserted late in the game for defense or has pinched hit. If he could hit as an outfielder he would have more AB. My statement Cook has not been a factor on the baseball team is accurate.
ReplyDeleteTo 9:23; I think what coach Reno is selling to recruits is probablly the same as any other ivy coach. I.e. quality of education, tradition, and competitive league. If you can be specific now is the time to back up your statement.
ReplyDeleteAll you are is unmitigated TROLL
ReplyDeletewith no class.9:23 and 1:32you are probably the same person. What about it Truth Teller, you again.
Hi guys anyone know what happen to football recruit jordan schlueter scottsdale az. The kid was a nice running back or db.
ReplyDeleteHey Walt,Jordan went to ASU as a prefered walk on at Tempe.
ReplyDeleteSomething he always dreamed of.
Good luck
Jon Harris Cheers Walt
Reno promised the kid a full scholarship and then he got his tuition bill. That's what happened to him.
ReplyDelete2:02 PM: Not me. I always identify myself in my comments.
ReplyDeleteTruthTeller
All the spring awards but two went to players who will be juniors or seniors this fall. Sound like a young team?
ReplyDelete9:04 YOU ARE A LIAR.IT'S ONE THING IF IT'S A FACT.BUT AS I STATED YOU ARE A LIAR.
ReplyDeleteJORDEN ACTUALLY WANTED TO BE A SUN DEVIL. ALWAYS HAD A DREAM OF BEING A SUN DEVIL.NOW HE IS WALKING ON.
THAT IS THE TRUTH,YOU PIECE OF SCUM..
If you know anything about the inner circle of the reno staff you know they are instructed to lie and bend the rules. It starts at the top. Morris saw the unprofessionalism of that and was forced out. Ask anyone in the business about the ethics of Tony Reno and they will tell you.
ReplyDelete6:45 Let me be clear,You are a scumbag.A total TROLL...You are in the inner circle.OK SURE YOU ARE..
ReplyDeleteReno was the plan C for this job. What did you expect him to win?
ReplyDeletewhy are so pathetic, why do have all this pent up anger. Are you a yale fan that went askew.?
ReplyDeleteor just a jerk. Just wondering about all your negative BS
Please clean this up.
ReplyDeleteBW '78
I agree with BW 78’, let’s keep the barbs to a minimum.
ReplyDelete9:04, you have to remember you are dealing with die hard Bulldog fans that protect their own…rightfully so. I agree you are entitled to your own opinion, as we all are of course. However take into consideration your clientele when you are doing your horrendously false reporting about Reno. If you had any scope of knowledge you would know that there are no “full scholarships” in the Ivy’s; so get it right. Furthermore, show me a head college football coach that has all of his so called “promises” kept…and I got a bridge I can sell you too…
This is black and white no mis interpretation needed here. Kid is saying he was offered a scholarship. http://portal31nhr.blogspot.com/2014/03/yale-interested-in-ct-gatordade-poy.html
ReplyDelete5:08…amateur…much like the young man/recruit who made the quote.
ReplyDeleteAll Ivy League schools offer roster spots with invitations to camp for high level recruits. They also offer partial financial assistance, as they do to regular students of financial need. Many times, because these kids are amateurs, and especially in this recruiting game today with all the communication done on social media, they communicate these offers as “scholarship offers”. There are supposed “scholarship offers” listed to kids all over the US to Ivy League schools on Rivals.com and 247 sports. This is a regular occurrence of miscommunication.
But as it was mentioned by 2:17 and 4:03 there are no full athletic scholarships given in the Ivy’s.
facts are facts. I can find more examples of it so its hard to blame the kid for repeating what he was told. when it happens all the time. Just want an honest coach, tired of the lying. its the IVY league not Alabama.
ReplyDelete4:57 your facts are not factual. We have a honest coach.
ReplyDeleteI believe you need not worry, and just go away.
4:57 The Ivy League is not Alabama you must be on to something. Thank you for the revelation.
ReplyDeleteCommon now stop with the football nonsense. With the exception of very very few the kids that are playing here understand that they are not here because of the football. The ones that don't are the 1% that don't graduate. Everyone is selling everyone, that is how the world works. Playing football is fun (maybe) but it's not going to pay your bills in four years!
ReplyDeleteJackson Ligouri have any eligibility left?
ReplyDeleteJackson Liquori has one more year but has elected not to play. I do not know the reason.
ReplyDeleteWe got plenty of WR's Mr. Jackson is getting his degree.Good for him
ReplyDeleteReno, is the man.!!!!!!
ReplyDelete
