Where are the "Yale can't run the ball" folks today?

Still have to clean up the penalties, though. Yale could have scored 45 without them.

Roberts looked a little off, but that's the sort of thing that may be weather-dependent, or almost anything-dependent.

    Excellent rushing defense.

Waiting to hear how Lehigh is not a legitimate test. They think they're top 3 Patriot League; they might be right, or not. I don't care.

    On to Hanover.

  4. Another explanation for Roberts being a bit off was the absence of his top two WRs, Hines and Clemmons. We will need them at Hanover.

Congrats to Yale's 3-0 start. However, if an Ivy Championship is the goal and expectation, things must get considerably better.

Salter had a big game, against a really week defense. We all now know that with the departure of Carberry and Chism our offensive line is at best average. The Varga graduation will not be even remotely filled by Chandler, Salter and others. As such our running game is a weakness at this juncture. Roberts is solid but needs to keep his head straight. His play against Lehigh was erratic, but then everyone has an off game. However, his receivers must get better...too many dropped balls the last two games.....and if the penalty yardage doesn't change we're screwed.....coaches need to address this.

On defense the coaches need to get more aggressive and creative as has been the case since Reno arrived and cost Flanders his job. The line needs to be able to pressure the QB and keep folks off the linebackers. Our linebackers appear solid.....fast, athletic and good tacklers. Let these guys go with a blitzing scheme to include on occasion a safety or The QB Williams from Dartmouth will make it a long day. Our backs get better every week. The Carlson kid is an emerging star. We need to minimize mistakes/penalties and play four solid quarters.

Our kicking game will be fine. In conclusion, this team can win it all but needs to get 20% better across the board..which means all facets of the game 4 quarters each week with a bit of luck. Let's hope they haven't run out of luck after 3 games, because they've used ytd more than allotted.
