Scouting Colgate
The Raiders host Yale after dropping their first two games of the year to FBS Navy (48-10) and No. 12 New Hampshire (26-8). Colgate was picked third in the Patriot League preseason poll and didn’t graduate much from last season.
Yale beat Colgate 45-31 last season at the Yale Bowl, but the Raiders held the Bulldogs to just 10 points in the opening half.
QB Jake Melville is a dual threat who creates problems on the perimeter and John Wilkins (6-0, 230 lbs.) is a bruising RB. TE John Quazza is a playmaker as well. Defensively, Colgate uses an odd front and Yale should expect to see some pressure.
Season openers
Yale is 121-18-2 in season openers, including winning their last eight. The Bulldogs last loss in an opener came in 2006 against San Diego.
Future scheduling
Reno acknowledged Yale is aiming to schedule another FBS school or a CAA school (Reno says the conference in the best in the FCS) for the future. The Bulldogs played Army last year.
JV schedule
The Yale JV team will host Brown on Oct. 4, Milford Academy on Oct. 18 and Harvard on Nov. 20. All games are at Clint Frank Field.
I'm very happy to see Reno and Yale are aiming to schedule a future FBS opponent, or one from the CAA. I think the best FBS oppontents would be Uconn, Army, Air Force and Navy, in that order. I think the best CAA potential opponent would be William & Mary.
ReplyDeleteLet's put an end to scheduling above the Ivy League. This is where we belong. The old days of national prominence are gone, and should be.
ReplyDelete2:40pm Get a clue go back to the harvard board .oh thats right they don'thave one. Nobody is talking about national prominence. Talking about teams in the OCC schedule to enhance this football team.Big Sky like Cal Poly, UC Davis,CAA William and Mary. Ohio State. See if your keeping up.?.
ReplyDeleteYale is more than able to play these teams Observer unlike Harvard Pussy's.
2:40 you make no sense. Scheduling the Servicice Academies or a CAA team is hardly the same as playing in the Rose Bowl. Any one who was at last year's Army game would know that historic rivalrys like this should be resumed.
