First, in case you missed it, check out this
feature on Yale freshman SS James Nicholas. He is playing football and golf
for the Bulldogs, and was drawing Division I interest in three different
sports.
Tyler Varga had another strong outing in the Colts final
preseason game. He led the Colts in rushing with nine carries for 37 yards,
including a 19-yard run in the third to set up an Indianapolis field goal. Here’s
a good read on Varga from the Indianapolis
Star.
As for Yale, the Bulldogs will travel to take on Brown in a
scrimmage on Saturday.
Bryan Holmes will likely handle kick-off and punting duties
again this season. He is battling with Blake Horn and Alex Galland for
placekicking duties.
Ask pretty much anyone around the program, and they will say
the secondary has really made strides. Led by players like Dale Harris, Foye
Oluokun and Spencer Rymiszewski, the unit is deep and experienced. They are much more aggressive. Tony Reno said
Harris and Rymiszewski have developed from athletes into top-tier CBs.
When speaking with Rymiszewski earlier this week (look for a
story on him soon), he spoke highly of DE Marty Moesta.
“He’s a beast coming off the edge,” Rymiszewski said. “Guys
up front rushing the passer like he does makes our job 10 times easier.”
Harris said he’s been impressed with WR Mike Siragusa, who
has packed on some muscle and has made some great catches in the preseason.
Siragusa missed some time with injury as a freshman last year, but came on strong
at the end of the season including a key 38-yard reception against Harvard.
Any idea on the starting time for the Yale-Brown scrimmage on Saturday?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Tyler Varga for making the Colts' roster!
