Ankle injury keeps Varga out of NFL Combine

I spoke with Tyler Varga’s agent, Joe Linta, over the weekend. Varga was forced to sit out of NFL combine drills because of a bone spur in his ankle.

He still took part in the medical exams, team interviews and the bench press. And he certainly drew some attention in the bench press, finishing among the top RB/FB with 23 reps of 225 lbs.

Varga, the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, is expected to be ready for his Pro Day on March 31st at Tolland’s Star Hill Family Athletic Center. Scouts from most, if not all, NFL teams are expected to be in attendance.

“Everyone I spoke with is intrigued with this kid,” Linta said. “They’re interested. It didn’t hurt him at all. He’s still sitting in that fourth-fifth round range. But again, he has to perform. We were hoping this would be the calling card for that, but we just have to wait.”

What did he hurt his ankle doing? He looked great in the senior bowl. This is fishy and Linta is a well known sleaze.

No surprise. What happens when you combine retards with a finely tuned athlete? I don't know who put the FB label on him and had him play FB to begin with. Their first clue should have been that he has never played FB. Their second clue should have been that he is about 30 lbs undersized to play FB. You would expect that at the next level they would be a bit smarter than this, guess again!

Hes too slow to play tailback in the NFL. He played no competition with any legit speed his whole life. Hes not fast, his best trait is being able to catch the ball out of the backfield.

I see your not a NFL scout,He is projected as a fullback or H back.
He has alot more to offer, special teams also.
1:24 He played no competition.?
This in itself is ignorance. You really need to check the stats of THE SENIOR BOWL.
THEN TELL WHAT YOU FOUND.
ABOUT NO COMPETITION.
GOOD LUCK JON HARRIS

I thought the comments on this blog scraped bottom before, but the first comment here is a new low. Joe Linta is an honorable guy who has built a great career as an agent. The troll calling him sleazy is a shameless coward.

I don't know. Looked like the best RB at the Sr. Bowl to me. I guess the other guys at that level must not be too fast either. I guess Mayock's comments were silly too just like his singing the Yale fight song?
