THIS is the fulcrum game of the whole season. A win and Yale will be at least 7-3; a loss and it could easily be 6-4 and a fourth place finish. My guess is the team and coaches realize this more than anyone else, so:
Yale and Brown scrimmaged in early September; and with Randall and Varga not playing due to risk of injury, Yale won 24-7, I believe. In such a pivotal regular season game, I see the Elis coming out full force on both offense and defense, and making red zone adjustments, offensively, in not losing the ball or being called for penalties, then punching the ball in for touchdowns. Expect a full effort, and then some, with the final score:
Feel strongly about this one. Brown is peaking at the right time and will score all day on a lowly Yale defense. Yale is over confident heading into this game, coaches are already talking about Harvard. The line has not blocked anyone in weeks, Varga is running over people in the hole to spring runs. Brown 38-14.
Every game is very important.Yale is not looking past Brown, which is a very dangerous team. I see Yale being very focused an ready for this game. Yale 38 Brown 24
Yale will find a way to win each of the next two, but I think Brown may be the tougher of them. Yale 31 - Brown 27. Followed by Yale 38 Princeton 24. Followed by ESPN Game Day deciding to come to Boston Nov. 22 for the most exciting renewal of The Game in years, in which sole possession of the Ivy championship is at stake because Harvard got shocked by Penn the prior week and Dartmouth loses to Princeton that same Saturday afternoon. Go Dawgs!!
Tyler Varga, Deon Randall, and Morgan Roberts will continue the dynamic attack! The defense will get more stops, and Reno will have a good squad and max effort. YALE 30 BROWN 21
I'm not optimistic going forward because we don't have one quality win. The 6 teams we have defeated have won a combined total of 10 games. Army's 2 wins are hard to evaluate and they've been beaten badly in most of their losses, but the other 5 teams can be compared. Lehigh's 2 wins are againsr Cornell and Georgetown (the Columbia of the Patriot League), Colgate has beaten the same 2 teams and added Holy Cross (3-6) and Princeton (without their QB) and Penn beat Columbia. Thus, I don't believe that we're that good, just that our opponents, to date, are that bad. Please prove me wrong.
Mark, that won't happen.Yale is playing in Providence.I see Yale coming back to form after last week. Putting a hurtin on the Bears 56 to 17 Unleash the DAWGS Cheers big Ears Some idiot thought that was an insult. What ajerk
I think Yale will win by 10 in this game, and then take a loss to Princeton. Then Harvard beats Yale by 20. Yale ends up 4th. 1st place Harvard 2nd - Dartmouth 3rd - Princeton 4th - Yale
I agree with the post several above. Yale has no good wins, and Dartmouth beat them. Yale will be 7-3 or 6-4 in 3 weeks. Same thing happened last year.
Yale is going to win it all. It is our year! We have to do it because we are losing 3 of the best players in Yale history and we are gonna suck next year!
I wonder if an FBS school will try to hire Coach Reno away from Yale. He is completely turned the team around. I bet UConn or BC would be checking him out. Plus, he would probably relate to less intelligent players.
9:07 WHEN YOU CALL ME OUT ,DON'T DO SO UNLESS YOU PUT YOUR NAME TO IT.DO YOU UNDERSTAND BOY. I'M CALLING YOU BOY ,BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT A LITTLE PUNK DOES. ARE YOU A PUNK LITTLE BOY.? MR.JON HARRIS 9:09 your a jack ass
Jon the offensive weapons Yale has only look good against the JV first string D the bulldogs run out every week in practice. Wait till Varga leaves they will win 3 games next year.
Can anybody explain why Yale has gone for two points after its first touchdown in so many games? They make roughly only half of them, and they have one of the best PKs in the league. All other teams save the two point conversion for late in the game when they need two to win or tie. ???
While it's been fun to watch to this point, Yale has basically accomplished very little. All we know so far is that they have a schedule front-loaded with bad Ivy League teams. Penn, Cornell and Columbia will end up with a combined three Ivy wins - Cornell over Columbia and Penn over both of them, and that's it. The only good Ivy team they played, they lost to. So it's been exciting for Yale fans so far but means very little to this point. These next three weeks are everything. Going 3 and 4 in the Ivy League with this offensive talent would be a disaster. I am neither hater nor troll, just a realist. I would like nothing better than to watch the Bulldogs win all three. But I'm wary.
2:56 is correct. Yale has played some very weak teams. The next 3 get much more difficult. And since Harvard destroyed Princeton and handily beat Dartmouth, we are going to need some help with turnovers. Their defense is far superior in talent than anyone we have faced.
Maybe we can pull off a miracle and win the next two and set up a big showdown in 3 weeks..
I'll guarantee you that every fan of Princeton and Brown is saying the same thing as many here say about Yale. We haven't beaten anyone good. And they haven't.
And if Yale happens to win the next two those same "fans" will say, well, Princeton and Brown, they are just not good this year.
2:56PM and 3:08PM you are correct, the Bulldogs have done nothing yet. Except for win all but 1 of their scheduled games, played hard and kept themselves in every game, created a positive and energetic culture within the team and the locker room, and made this season one of the best ones in years so far.
Championships are not won until all of the games are played. But you are wrong, they have done something. They have built toughness in their group, confidence in each other and their coaches, and a belief in their team that has the entire SUPPORTIVE Yale football community a buzz. I cannot guarantee wins in the last 3 games. But from what I have seen thus far, I can guarantee that these boys will continue to make all of the REAL Yale football supporters proud by playing their hearts out, together, for Yale football and to get that win. Regardless of the outcome, I’ll be proud of them for that, as I have been all year. I just hope that can translate into wins as it has in past weeks; just to be able to shut some people up.
Yale is the beneficiary of a terrible schedule. They have so many holes its scary. They will be exposed over the next three games. 1-2 at best. A token 7-3 year.
4:49, thank you for your eloquence and perspective. The lads are playing hard and are UNIFIED. It's a very positive and exciting team.
A team that, by the way, will not suck next year. Morgan Roberts, Candler Rich, this year's frosh WR's coming into their own. This year's admittedly average defense (so far) growing into one of the Ivy's strongest.
As for Brown... it'll be scary, this overlooked rivalry usually is, but: Yale 34, Brown 33.
How many tickets have been sold for the Harvard game?
9:50AM, that is not what he is saying you moron. U must be the dummy who sent the post that he is referring to. Sounds like he struck a nerve. Well done TNC, and well said.
This troll-Reno hater doesn't know what he is talking about. Little while ago Yale was going to be 6-4. Now 7-3. Reno did not recruit Varga? And Roberts? And Rich and Locke etc etc. There is a tiny group of bitter haters whose lives are so empty, hating re the past is all they can do. Reno has built a team
Reno is doing a great job. We were 5th place last season and we are going to be 3rd or 4th this year. We keep getting better with him coaching us. WE are such are young year - Varga, Randall, Wallace and all of the senior are not the heart of the team. Our young defense is improving every game. Just look at how we fared again Brown yesterday. Brown is a veteran experienced offense - they only graduated all 11 players on offense last year and look at what they did this year. This is evidence Yale offense will be beat next year without Varga, Randall and Wallace
Cheers go Reno and our team. This is our best year since William's first year. 3rd place would be a huge improvement if we get there!
If we beat Princeton, and take a loss to Harvard we will be 8-2 and in 3rd place - Ha Ha Hater!
Yale is on the comeback. We have lots of replacement for Varga and Randall. They are on our JV team and practicing. Plus, Reno will recruit some more guys off college rosters and high school players!!
We are coming back - 3rd place is better than predicted Buddy!!!
THIS is the fulcrum game of the whole season. A win and Yale will be at least 7-3; a loss and it could easily be 6-4 and a fourth place finish. My guess is the team and coaches realize this more than anyone else, so:

reno has turned this team around and is starting to get his guys on the roster. watch out!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Reno has recruited a great defense!
ReplyDeleteAnd he has done a find job recruiting Varga, Randall and Wallace (NOT!!!)
Yale final record - 7-3 (will come in 4th in Ivy league - that may be same as last year?)
1. Harvard
2. Dartmouth
3. Princeton
4. Yale
Funny how Yale has played all of the teams in 5-8th place and the only top 3 they have a loss!
Good luck with a rebuilding year next year since you are losing your whole offense!
