It doesn't get any better than this!
Even the defense came through!
Nice win. This time, as opposed to the Dartmouth game, Yale put it away with that 1st drive in the 2nd half.
Y1967. Where are all the Reno haters now?
Pleasantly surprised to see that we can have our QB hitting these kind of heights without it coming at the expense of Varga's production. Haven't had the luxury of seeing any games, but I love what this offense is doing. Keep it going, sons!
Chris nice job doing the story on the penn game,hi ray mr harris goodgame sat .But we have a problem our db never turn around to look for the ball we could of had 2 picks sat not good. Thats going tp bite us in the ass before the season is over. your not going to get away with this with brown princeton and harvard. Were looking good so far just have toget our db to play smart. see you guys tuesday walt yale blue.
Any further news about No. 17, Spencer Rymiszewski? Today's NH Register quotes Coach Reno as saying that Spencer sustained a concussion. According to yesterday's NBC Sports broadcast, he was hospitalized at Yale-NH.
LKike all Yale FB fans, I, of course, wish Spencer a full and speedy recovery.
Mike Harrington, TD'69
Ist Spencer, the best to you for a speedy recovery.Great Yale win
Nice to be 5-1,4 games left.
Walt ,Ray and Stanley see you guys on Tuesday.
Cheers Jon Harris
7:2 is right, with all the success of the team so far, there is a glaring weakness in Yale's DBs. Don't konw whether it can be helped by better coaching or whether they just are not that athletic.Running defense looks very much improved.
Great to have Vaughan back at LB..
With him starting at the Mike in the beginning of the second half the defense had four 3-and-outs in a row and game over - time to give the backup D some playing time - Yeah baby! That's what we like to see.. Go Bulldogs!

Best of luck and get well soon to Spencer - we are praying for you
A master chess move would be to bring La Testa back from WR and actually play him @ Corner back.. we need him now with the injuries..you wouldn't have to teach him anything - he was guarding D1 WRs at Bergen Catholic in NJ when a lot of these freshman and sophomore DBs at Yale were still in Middle School - take advantage of his leadership and experience - he was a lock down corner - I saw him come in for Drew Baldwin in 2011 against Dartmouth and lock down their best WR man to man.. you can't tell me he lost it.. he just never got a chance - are you listening JH?
Yes.. the D looked good - the only hiccup in the second half was a blown coverage by one of the Yale DBs for a long TD Pass - other than that.. they did not get a first down on the 1st team D in the second half.. I hope Oplinger and Egu are OK.. Chris.. any word? Looks like they took Oppy's helmut away and they were working with Egu's shoulder - Kreitzberg and Moesta were awsome.. and so was Charles Cook -he's been steady performer all year.. Vaughan still looks like he's got that sideline to sideline speed..he was all over the field and very excited to be back.. groin/hammy looks totally healed - he was not playing with a limp like he was in the first game.. I think the Yale DBs have a lot of talent but they have got to beat these WRs up on the line of scrimmage to disrupt routes - no team can survive with the DBs playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage
Reno doesn't have the mental makeup to press WR's. He wants them 10 off the ball in prevent for 4 quarters. bend but don't break.
I agree with 6:14 about La Testa I to watched him play corner in 2011 and he was stuck to the receivers every time! Anyone that's been watching has to know there is a huge problem with the DB'S and their coverage. Maybe time to give a Vet a shot!
I doubt LaTesta will play. Reno will be questioning Spencer's toughness by Wednesday.
Is anyone catching what an offensive juggernaut Oplinger is!!!!.. even on D his offensive skills are bursting out of his pores.. he already has two 2 point conversions and he almost took a blocked field goal to the house..that's without even trying! He had 17 TDs his Senior year at high school, for Pete's sake! - he's going to end up being an all american @ LB.. but why not run him down the seam at the slot right now!.. - with grant wallace, deon , and varga and oplinger on the field at the same time would be totally unfair.. there is not enough talent in the Ivy League to stop that.. because you would have to double team all 4 just to have a chance - that only leaves 3 defenders - you just can't stop that.. I feel like the one eyed man in the blind kingdom here - am I crazy ;o) John Harris.. help me out here.. don't you have the coaches ear? It's just common sense.. a no brainer.. let's win this thing now - let's make it unfair for other teams - also I agree - let's get La Testa on the field @ corner.. that talent is just waisting on the bench - it's a sin and a shame - also Bernardez looked like he had some real closing speed .. no one got behind him.. that was the first team Penn receivers out there still at the end
Anyone who watched Latesta play his freshman year would know that he is more than capable of playing corner and his veteran leadership on D would be helpful. But what makes anyone think that he would be moved back to corner? He hasn't been used there in over 2 years and there are plenty of corners on the roster that would be used before him.
Half the people on this blog had 17 TD's in high school. Who cares what Oplinger did in high school.
And who cares what LaTesta did 2 years ago. There is obviously a reason they moved him in the first place, which is because he was not as good as who is back there now or who they brought in. Looks like it’s time to give some of the people on the weekly two-deep some more playing time. No better week than this one to do the auditions for the most import home stretch of the season. And by the way, you can blame the DB’s all you want about them getting beat. But when there is no pressure on the QB most WR’s can get open on most DB’s. We need to find a way to pressure the QB as well, that factors in our passing woes as well. Zone blitzes, different packages, etc. We need to at the very least be hitting the QB if not sacking him, then the DB’s get a little help.
Manora is looking good at LB - he's been steady all year - I like his quickness and strength
1:34PM were you even at the game? - Moesta, Kreitzberg, Vaughan, etc lit him up on 4 successive 3-and-outs in a row - and then they score on a 60 yard TD pass where the WR was open by 20yds - the tv commentator said.. and I quote "he was so open it looked like he was fielding a punt" - - it's the only time they scored and their only first down in the second half - by the way
On top of that, I've been really impressed with 89's play recently. He certainly doesn't look the part (he has the physique of an overweight offensive tackle), but he's tallied three sacks so far this season, tied for 5th in ivy league. We have to give him more opportunities to rush the passer, possibly from the outside or standup? I think that will really get the pass rush dialed up and help the young DB's.
now you talking..you were actually paying attention.. Jack Rushin has been bringing the pain.. he is number 89 - as a matter of fact.. 99 Moesta and 89 (Rushin) were harrassing the Penn QB so much that the announcers said they almost "look like twins" and that it was hard to tell them apart - I don't know what 3:41 is talking about.. The QB was so rattled in the second half that he started complaining to the refs about illegal hits - Moesta also blocked a pass - pressure was a problem in the Dartmouth game/ not Penn.. Flanders is up in the box now and he has corrected the pressure issue - look at U Penn's scores - a 32yd pass, a 42yd pass and a 48yd pass
Also, just wait until Crowle gets back healthy.. the D Line is starting to look real interesting.. they have a nice thing going with Flanders in the box talking to Hall (D Line coach) on the sidelines.. I think hall hasa couple of D Linemen in the NFL now - he's going to be great for Yale
45pts per game and 600yds of offense isn't enough for you? Oplinger is playing exactly where he should be and will be for the next three seasons to come.
Let me see a 32yd,42yd and 48 yd touchdown passes and you do not think there is a problem with the defensive backs? Give me a break the D-backs do need to start looking for the ball earlier and the reason they are lined up 10-15 yards off the line of scrimmage is because the lack of speed.
To whom it may concern, all of you paying attention.I have benn watching Yale football for along time. This is the best team I have seen since the mid 70's.
I am more akin to a defensive guy.But this offense is a remarkable piece of work.Pure lethal and nasty that can do alot of damage if working on all cylinders.
I have brought people to witness this team .who have not bothered to watch a Yale game in many years
and they have come back with children and grand kids and neighbors.
So with that said Stop bitchen.
Enjoy while it's here because in 4 weeks it will all be gone.
Cheers Jon Harris
