Yale-Army offers more than just a game

NEW HAVEN >> The Yale-Army rivalry is one rich with history and tradition.
The programs, which are two of the most storied in college football, first met in 1893. A crowd of 80,000 at the Yale Bowl, the biggest in Bulldogs history, watched as Yale beat Army 31-10 in 1923. The last time they met in 1996. Army coasted to a 39-13 victory.
The series has had many special moments, and now Yale and Army will get a chance to add another chapter to it.

I feel Yale will move the ball against these guys. Army does not have a lot of size. I don't think Yale is capable of stopping them. Experienced QB running the option will be too much.

I will be rooting like heck for our Bulldogs on Saturday and it is going to be a fun and historical day. But for the sake of having some real numbers, here's the deal: Since 1978, when the split between 1 and 1A happened, the Ivy League is 2-23 against what are now called "FCS" opponents. The only two wins are Harvard beating Army in '83 and Penn beating Navy in '86. Army is at least somewhat vulnerable though, with a 53-12-1 record against FBS opponents, and a loss as recently as 2012 to Stony Brook. The overall winning percentage of FBS schools facing FCS schools is around 84%. So yeah, Yale is certainly up against it this week. But bring it on - should be fun! Roll Dawgs!!!

Correction to my own mistake above - obviously that Army record since 1978 is against FCS opponents, not FBS.
