It's hard to imagine Yale being competitive in this one with a QB who still hasn't proven himself, a new OC, a significant number of players whose last game was a high school game, and a team picked to finish second in the Patriot League desperate for its first win. Lehigh 38-17
It's gonna be a tough one - a significant number of younger players, with a good coach and new OC, in their first game against a strong Lehigh team hungry to win and on its THIRD game. Yale can't be expected to win this one but never ever ever say never. They will get a good test in any case. Great bunch of guys Let's hope they surprise the world! GO BULLDOGS AND BEAT LEHIGH.
This spread offense will put a tremendous amount of pressure on the defense. Quick three and outs, which are a near certainty (at least early on in the season) with this approach will give Lehigh lot of time of possession. Bulldog offense will have a highlight or two but nothing sustained. The transfer from Miami runs for 150+, Lehigh grounds and pounds all day, and wins by 17 or more.
Roberts, Randall, and Varga shine. Little and Keyes contribute to the offense. The defense jells behind Champion and company, in a surprise win over the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh, which augers well for the remainder of the season.
Yale in a slugfest: 35 - 31. Neither defense will distinguish themselves.

ReplyDeleteWill see just how fast this offense is on Saturday. Conlin claimed they were too slow last year running plays.

Can't wait to see the new offense, with a healthy Varga.

In 1964 Lehigh visited the Bowl to open the season and left on the short end, 54-0. That was then....
ReplyDeleteNever say never; rooting for a Yale upset win.
