Time for the haters, who predicted an easy Lehigh win, to now say, "well Lehigh is weak this year, so it really isn't much of a win."

    Just watch.

They gave up 43 to a Lehigh team that was down 29-0 to UNH last week at half. Defense is no better, they have no plan. As for the offense, the O-Line is as solid as it's ever been and Randall is one of the best players in the IVY league.

They gave up EIGHT points in the second half!

And the hate has arrived, if they won 7-0 Conlin and Roberts would stink and should be fired and benched. You people kill me. Yale WON!!! Celebrate it!

  5. It was shocking how fast Yale was down 21-0. Yale's conditioning must be much very good..it looked like two different teams in the second half. WHAT A GAME!!!

Yale is atrocious in the from 7 on defense. The d line completely regressed from last year and the linebackers are a bunch of kids who belong at Trinity. They are not good. However I will say the secondary is good and better then Yale has had in recent years. Both Harris and spencer are quick and improving. Love the 3 safeties they have rotating.

7300 fans reported today? I'll pay everyone on this site 100 bucks for every fan over 2,500 today. No way they have had over 2500 people at the game today.

Let's admit it, we all thought the whole season might be in jeopardy at 21 0 before you could blink. But credit them for great resiliency. And for some fantastic offense. And how about Morgan Roberts? No one on this blog has had anything good to say about him. Lukewarm praise at best from some, a lot of bile from most. Well about this, doubters? 30 for 39? Well over 300 yards and 3 TD's? Early nervous pick six followed by one of the best performances by a Yale QB in a long time. So good for you Morgan, keep it up. What a difference with Conlin running the show. On the defensive side... well, let's stay positive.

Lehigh has given up 2000 yards in three games. the worst defense in FCS football. Lets not crown Conlin a genius just yet.

9:24 Give it a rest, you are such a troll.Roberts started off rusty and finished all nice and polished.Defense will have it together by the Cornell game.
Secondery needs to tighten up and quick.3 passes one a flea flicker, with them watching the game.Flanders, needs to blitz at least once not one all game.
I like the way they came back well done.. Cheers Jon Harris

9:20 you have no idea what you're talking about were you at the game?, Larkin did a good job Minora did a good job Vaughan had a groin pull and was taken out and Cook was # 3 in the tackle stats with 5 solos. There were a few issues when a Freshman was put in for Vaughan but that can be addressed. You must have missed the plays where the secondary got burned for long TD's and long gains I guess. This was the first real game. The big picture here is a team that was getting pounded on and didn't give in.

Watched the entire game on Ivy League Digital Network. Most plays were re-run with a close-up view. Can now go back and watch the whole recorded game again on ILDN.

Thought Roberts had been pulled after his interception because it seemed like a new QB took over and marched the team down the field for a TD. But it was #19 - Roberts. The kid does have new confidence this year just like Reno said. With #2 Randall and #30 Varga as primary threats, Roberts was able to do more himself, including rushing on several occasions. If something happens to Roberts, Logan Scott should be able to step in and there are more than just Varga and Randall as good weapons. Field goal kicking is solid now.

The season now hangs on development of the defense. The secondary let too many receivers get past them and score easy TDs with no coverage. That needs to be fixed. But the game ending INT showed promise for the young secondary players on the field yesterday.

I intend to go up to the Army game and see this team first-hand. Against Wake Forest yesterday, Army collapsed in the second-half and lost 24-21. Wake Forest won despite entering the game with the 2nd worst rushing game in the nation at 22.7 yards per game. Army has only a marginal passing game, so Yale's defensive secondary may be less problematical next Saturday, especially if able to provide run support against Army's scrambling QB.

Army doesn't have a scrambling QB. They run triple option. Reno will not have a gameplan to stop it.

  15. Anonymous12:28 PM

Army calls it a triple option, but it is only a double option - run and run - unless you want to call it run, run and scramble.

Wake Forest was Army's third game this season, and the numbers tell the story of its QB's increasingly de minimis use of the third option in comparison to the two run options:

    PASSING
    Army – 18 yds
    Wake – 238 yds

    COMP-ATT
    Army - 3-5
    Wake - 25-35

    YARDS PER PASS
    Army - 3.6 yds
    Wake - 6.8 yds
    ---------------------------
    RUSHING
    Army QB Angel Santiago
    CAR - 21
    YDS - 123
    AVG - 5.9
    TD - 1
    LG – 37

Army Team (including QB Angel Santiago)
    CAR - 59
    YDS - 341
    AVG - 5.8
    TD - 2
    LG – 37

Army's triple option does not refer to a passing option. It's 3 running options:The qb reads a lane for the fb and gives him the ball, or takes ball away and runs wider and either keeps or pitches to wingback based on what next visible defender does. Very hard to defend but Yale D will be up to the task. BEAT ARMY

11:58 there you are again. All negativity and you have a grudge against Reno. Sorry but - - get over it. Hemingway said it: The world breaks everyone and afterwards some are strong in the broken places. A lot has happened in the football program in the past ten years and when that happens some of it did inevitably hurt good people -when you change a head coach several times that happens. And the program has had a rocky road. If you were one of the people hurt in the changes, get over it and move on.Program is now on a steady course, many who were last involved with it moved on and are in good new jobs, students have graduated with Yale degrees, and the program is now stable, healthy and ready for the future. The students believe are motivated and are developing. Everyone is working hard. Get a life.

For 11:58 - Cal Poly ran a triple option last year. Yale was going to have no shot against them. Reno was going to have no plan. Final score: Yale 24, Cal Poly 10. I agree with the prior post; all the Reno-bashers who want to see the program do poorly because you have a personal grudge: Move on.

They won one game against a winless team that has given up 2000 yards and 150 points in 3 games. Let's get Reno his extension now he's the best.

The DB's got exposed a little because the Defensive line put zero pressure on the QB. Can't sit back and cover forever.

You can only beat who you play. If that team gave up 600 yards per game and we got 98 total yards, then you might have a beef, 6:58. But you will obviously have a beef regardless of what this team does, so why bother - you're just bitter.

Yale will get beat down this week against Army. a little dose of what real football is like. Never seen a more cocky staff after beating a high school team on Saturday. Just amazes me. No class

12:36 Talk about no class, you have NO IDEA WHAT THAT Entails.
Nothing is the matter with them, at all you non observent piece of nothing.
Yale may get beat that happens ,but they will compete and they have the capacity to win this game.
The defense is young but they will be rock solid soon.
I say Good Day To You TROLL

Congratulations 12:36PM you won the prize for the biggest idiot who has posted ANYTHING on this blog. You are either a disgruntled parent or a high school kid yourself. Lehigh is perennially (are you aware of what that even means 12:36PM?) one of the better 1AA in the Patriot League ( I know you have no idea what that means) teams that had an 8-3 record last year. The team they played the week prior to Yale (UNH) is ranked #7 in the country. That means all of America in division 1AA you moron. So no one should feel good about that win right? You absolutely have no idea what you are talking about and it is a good thing you didn’t identify yourself because if so you would have been ripped to shreds and laughed off of this blog. And you talk about "no class". Boy it takes a TON of class to say that Yale is going to take a "beat down" by a division 1 team. Great call genius. No other Ivy league school even plays an FCS team. Again, I'm sure you have NO CLUE what an FCS team is. No need for the likes of people like you on here. Bury your head and don’t come back. Great win for the first game when the opposing team was on their 3rd. Wins are not measured they are counted. Go Bulldogs.

The coaching staff has every right to be delighted with the outcome of the Lehigh game, and so does everyone involved with Yale football. How many teams could get out of the hole it dug for itself in the first quarter? Only one that believes in itself and its coaches. Only one that's "bought in."
Grind your teeth, trolls. There will be no 0-2 start for the Bulldogs. However the season finally turns out, even you must admit that the program's heading in the right direction. Infuriating, isn't it?
So, trolls stay in your caves and stamp your feet in frustration. If you had a friend, he/she might suggest that your rage is not conducive to happiness, health or longevity.
Something else, trolls. Did you notice that Yale sacrificed a virtually certain seven points (nobody was keeping Varga out of the end zone) by taking a knee in the last minute. Have you ever done something like that?

12:36 you are a Moran for any team to come from behind and having to score as many points as Yale needed is a Statement of the Character this team is made of and that speaks volumes regardless of who the opponent is,getting beat is getting beat. And if the Army game is a blow out... Fine because every Guy on the Yale team will be able to say they faced Army in the historic Yale Bowl during the 100th Anniversary. And they will do it while Laughing all the way to the bank... Yale degree in hand.
