According to a blog entry from the Arizona Republic, defensive lineman Tevin Hood is no longer at Duke and may be looking at Yale.
If the name is familiar, it is because Yale recruited Hood pretty heavily out of Hamilton High in Chandler, Arizona before he opted to go to Duke on an academic scholarship.
The 5-foot-11, 305-pound Hood played in four games as a freshman at Duke and had four assisted tackles. He made his debut against Elon on Sept. 4 and did not record a tackle. Hood had two assisted tackles against Wake Forest on Sept. 11 and the following week had an assisted stop and 1/2 tackle for a loss against Alabama and also had a tackle against Virginia Tech.
As a senior at Hamilton High in 2009, Hood had 135 tackles including 19 sacks.
Here is a story on Hood announcing his decision to transfer filed the night he received a national scholar-athlete award at the National Football Foundation banquet.
One more note of interest, Hood's father is Eric Swann who was the Arizona (then known as Phoenix) Cardinals' first round pick in the 1991 draft. Swann had 46 1/2 sacks in 10 NFL seasons and played in the 1995 and 1996 Pro Bowls.
Since he didn't make the team at Duke, wouldn't it make sense for Tevin Hood to choose Yale (where he wouldn't lose a year of eligibility) rather than Arizona State or Stanford?
